Sho Sugi Ban, or Yakisugi, is a traditional Japanese method of wood preservation through charring. I use this method on composite pine rounds, in combination with stenciling, sanding and staining to create unique, decorative pieces of art. Each disc is sealed with polyurethane and comes with hanging hardware installed. Some pieces are a collaboration with Rosannah von Moritz, who uses pressed flower decoupage to create beautiful accents and scenes.
